Closing costs and taxes estimator

When you buy a property, the price is not the only thing you pay: closing costs are added on top. This tool gives you an idea of how much to budget. As a rough rule they are between 4 and 8 percent of the price, depending on the transaction and the municipality. It is an approximate estimate to guide you; the notary gives you the exact figure for your case before signing, and you should never sign without that breakdown.

Purchase details

The value the purchase would be deeded at.

The acquisition tax changes name and rate depending on the state and municipality.

An estimate, not a quote

This tool uses the rough rule of 4 to 8 percent of the price, and an acquisition tax of about 2 percent. These are references for the current year to give you an idea; they are not a quote or an official figure.

The real rates are set by each municipality and calculated by the notary according to your case (the type of transaction, whether it is a first home, whether there is a loan, whether you are a foreigner). Before deciding or signing, confirm the figures with the notary and with us.

Figures current in 2026, last reviewed 2026-08-28. They change every year; confirm them with a notary or accountant.
