El Centro is the historic old town of Puerto Vallarta, with its cobblestone streets, the seaside Malecón, the Church of Our Lady of Guadalupe with its crown, and the Gringo Gulch neighborhood on the hillside. It is the most walkable area, with the most atmosphere: markets, galleries, restaurants and the art of the boardwalk.
It offers mainly apartments and older houses with character, many with bay views from the hills. It is much in demand for vacation rental thanks to its location and its cultural life. Space is limited, which sustains its value.
